Vacuum coating of plastics

Vacuum coating is a tempering process during which metal is applied to the surface of the input product. Coating takes place in special vacuum systems and is not only cost-effective but above all very environmentally friendly. The most frequently chosen metals are aluminum and other pure metals can be used, such as chromium, titanium, silver, gold, and others. To achieve high adhesion, the coating is carried out repeatedly, in several thin layers. This will increase the overall durability of the final product, change its functional properties and gain an attractive appearance.

In addition, we treat the final product with a colorless protective varnish, which excels in high mechanical and chemical resistance. You can read about this treatment in the section “Plastic varnishing”.

In addition to products made of plastics, laminate, and foils, this technology is also suitable for coating glass or light metals. The only limit is the structure of the product that the customer requires to be coated, as the metal cannot be applied to porous, soiled, and greasy surfaces in this way.

A popular trend in recent years is the coating of 3D models. It is a very cheap and efficient production of attractive accessories, decorative and souvenir items, gifts, or small components for a wide range of uses.

Technology

In general, it is possible to use two methods to metalize products – evaporation and sputtering. Our company uses the method of vacuum evaporation of metals. The whole process takes place in a vacuum, so it is possible to apply really thin metal layers on a wide range of substrates so that they perfectly copy the surface of the product and do not lose the slightest detail. This method is suitable for parts with surface irregularities, small objects, and parabolas. Due to the fact that the whole process takes place in a vacuum, where the thermal energy spreads much more slowly, there is no need to develop too high a temperature and thus the input material is not stressed. The result is a perfect reflective layer or a decorative metallic look, so-called chrome coating.
